It's no secret, e-learning is changing the way you educate your students, employees, customers, and more. Online learning is now an essential part of operations for educational institutions and government entities; and its functionality continues to grow and evolve.
Current research from educational institutions shows:
- Over 1.6 million students took at least one online course during the Fall of 2002 (and this is expected to increase by 30% by 2004)
- Over one-third of these students (578,000) took their courses online
- Among all US higher education students in the Fall 2002, 11% took at least one online course
- Among those students at institutions where online courses were offered, 13% took at least one online course
- The number of students taking at least one online course is projected to increase by 19.8% in 2002 – 2003 (and this is expected to increase by 30% by 2004)

Current research from the government sector shows:
"The trend for synchronous (same time, live) e-learning favors continued and accelerating adoption by organization and individual learners. The percentage of organizations that are delivering synchronous e-Learning has grown from 60% to 73% over the two year periods from 2002 - 2004 - an increase of 22%. This growth rate was mirrored on the individual learner level as well. In 2001, 54% of the respondents to a Guild survey on this topic indicated that had participated in a synchronous e-Learning event. That number rose to 69% in 2002 and ballooned in this year's survey to 92%." (p.11)
